Michael Okoli, your Pick of the Week, is the Leonardo Da Vinci of the junior class: one of the few true renaissance men of our generation. Not only does he excel academically, but athletically as well. With superhuman strength that is comparable to the Hulk (he has been sighted lifting a car), he dominates in rugby competition - knocking over everything that gets in his way. His muscles are purely natural - not fueled by artificial protein shakes but rather gourmet grub. His culinary skills are said to be unbelievable (specialty: Cajun chicken and rice!). His strength goes beyond the weight room into the kitchen where he is routinely seen eating hot sauce with an infinite tolerance for heat. Despite all of this, Mike is no hard-headed jock. Likened to a well-trained Victorian school boy, his manners are impeccable and taste for music exquisite. A true specimen of the male kind, all men should aspire to be like Mike. Ladies, if you are seeking that dual Psych and MRS degree, look no further, Mike is the man for the job!
Note: he can do more with his tongue than just taste…
A member of the Church of Friendship and Mutual Understanding, Romit Bhattacharya doesn't discriminate rather he casts a wide net always looking to make a few new friends. Not only does he have a lot of friends, but he also has a ton of hobbies. Despite being small, this boy can dunk like nobody's business: he is a sports enthusiast who just enjoys being active. Staying true to his roots, he's a member of the South Asian Society as well as the Bengali Study Association. A passionate musician, he serenades the ladies using a whole range of instruments from guitar to the tabla (if you don't know what that is, look it up!). A member of a student band, get an earful of his music stylings at www.VentPortfolio.com. AAlthough he is from Westchester, New York, Romit Bhattacharya is not your average Penn student. He prefers face time with friends rather than impersonal conversation facilitated by the exclusive Blackberry Messenger system. But his lack of a Blackberry doesn't mean he isn't a diligent student, he is double majoring in English and Biological Basis of Behavior. Lovingly referred to by close friends as "Raw Meat," he is overall one heck of a guy who any mother would be glad to have come home with her daughter. So if you're lucky, maybe you can get a special dish of this "Raw Meat."
The man, the myth, the legend, Matej Rimar lives and dies by the motto "Sex, Drugs, and Rock n' Roll." Not even the Iron Curtain could hold him back, having arrived fresh off the boat from Košice, Slovakia in September of 2005. Thankfully, he hasn't changed much since then. Born in a communist country, he naturally rebelled at a young age., listening to and imitating rock n' roll legends such as Jim Morrison, who he frequently quotes, "Actually...I don't remember being born, it must have happened during one of my black outs." An icon of Locust walk: he is seen strolling, smiling and beaming with a positive, relaxed attitude. His common combination of ripped jeans, leather jacket, aviators and a cigarette dangling from his lips can't be missed, especially since shaving off his dirty blonde locks in favor of a bald head. On a more serious note, Matej is extremely philosophical (favorites include Kafka, Marquez, Dostoevsky) and has a strong appreciation for cinema and the arts. He is studying political science with aspirations to work in the non-profit sector. Despite his fun and relaxed demeanor, he should be taken very seriously as he certainly will change the world. Oh and ladies, he is single.
To start off this year's pick of the week contest, we had no choice but to pick everyone's favorite hard hitter from Queens, Liz Lee. Liz, you see, is a little girl with one big appetite. "I've never seen an Asian girl eat as much as Liz," remarks friend Nick Malinowski. She is known for taking her friends down to Geno's late at night for her favorite Philly treat, cheesesteaks. Likewise, she is often found casually snaking on brownies, cakes, pies, and ramen of course. But don't think she is a glutton. Roommate Amy reports that Liz "will always let you have the last piece." Aside from her gastronomic explorations Liz is a Wharton sweetie who spent her summer working for a consulting firm specializing in non-profits. She is a fellow member of student government on the UA and a sexy sister of Chi O. Her friends describe her as "charismatic, personable and fun to be around." Liz, you truly put the sweet into sweetness.
